Session 1 — Free Intro Class (Open Studio & Demo) Purpose: Serve as a friendly, walk-in experience that lets people try calligraphy, learn what the 6-week course will be like, and feel excited to join. What Happens: - Welcome & Short Show-and-Tell: Brief intro to the beauty and history of Chinese calligraphy, plus a quick comparison with Western calligraphy tools. - Live Demo: Instructor shows basic brush strokes, how to hold the brush, and writes a few characters with explanations of meaning (e.g., “peace,” “mountain,” “dragon”). - Hands-On Mini Activity: Guests try writing one simple character with a brush—fun for kids, relaxing for adults and seniors. - Display of Student Project Examples: A small table with example scrolls or cards to show what students will make in the full course. - Enrollment Invitation: Explain what the 6-week class includes, benefits for each age group, and how to sign up. - Optional: Parents and students can take home a small practice sheet. Appeal Notes: - Families/Kids: Hands-on “try it” moment feels like art play. - Teens: Cool factor of brush lettering + cultural element. - Adults/Designers: Live demo of line quality, tools, and technique. - Retirees: Calm, scenic, meditative activity with cultural depth.
