The practice/assignment will remain the same: paint an alla prima study in three hours from life. Around that repeated structure you grow and develop your skill, taste, and voice.

Felicia offers guidance in the form of advice, philosophy, and demonstration as you need it throughout this practice.

“Your voice is found in the small actions: technique, marks, and problem solving in paint, as well as in the subject matter and overarching themes you choose. You uncover these essential characteristics in your work by strengthening intuition, calming the nervous system and allowing curiosity to inspire the structure of your practice.”-Felicia

In this ongoing studio workshop, students will have a chance to draw and paint in a relaxed, welcoming environment while receiving hands-on critique, live demonstrations, and weekly lectures. Each month, we will progress from drawing to painting, focusing first on still-life and landscape before moving on to portrait/figure from a live model. Lectures will cover a wide range of topics appealing to both the beginning and advanced artist, with the goal that everyone will learn something new (and useful!) each week of the year.
