Session 1 — Free Intro Class:“How Characters Tell Stories” “How Characters Tell Stories” A high-energy intro that feels like a mini workshop + live demo. Showcase & Inspiration • What makes characters stick in our memory? Examples: Woody (Toy Story), Miles Morales (Spider-Verse), Totoro, SpongeBob, Calvin & Hobbes, Genshin Impact, French comics aesthetics (e.g., The Little Prince), stylized social media art • Quick look at different global styles: • French/European (clean shapes, poetic stories) • Anime/Manga (expressive eyes, dynamic hair, stylized proportion) • Indie/Social Media Trends (limited palettes, abstract shapes, bold linework) Story + Personality Basics • What makes a character interesting beyond looks? • Mind-map demo: Students help build a personality map (goals, fears, quirks) Mini Hands-On Exercise • “3 Shapes Challenge”: Design a character using a circle, square, and triangle • Simple silhouette test (super fun for kids & adults) Preview of the full course • Traditional + digital demos, social media design tips, mini art showcase at the end
